Blades, Pressure & Speed

How do I choose the right blade for vinyl cutting?

Choose blades based on material thickness:

  • 30° blade: Very thin films
  • 45° blade: Standard vinyl (most common)
  • 60° / 65° blade: Thick, textured, or laminated vinyl

Across most professional setups, 45° and 60° blades cover the majority of real-world jobs.

How do dull blades affect vinyl cut quality?

A dull blade leads to:

  • Rough or jagged edges
  • Vinyl tearing
  • Poor weeding
  • Increased vinyl waste

Fix:

  • Replace or clean blades regularly
  • Remove adhesive residue
  • Store blades properly

Why are my vinyl cutter pressure settings causing problems?

Incorrect pressure settings cause:

  • Incomplete cuts (pressure too low)
  • Cutting through the backing liner (pressure too high)

Fix:
Always perform test cuts and adjust pressure gradually for each vinyl batch.

Does vinyl cutting speed affect accuracy?

Yes.

  • High speed can cause slipping on fine details
  • Very low speed increases friction on thick vinyl

Fix:
Match cutting speed to design complexity and vinyl thickness.
